A record of our adventures between Pipit and her successor...
Mo(o)ve along - nothing to see here...
Once again a number of months (three actually) have slipped by since our last update - you may have noticed minor missives on our Twitter or Facebook pages but basically we have spent the summer mixing working with getting out & about, both locally and further afield. So without too many words necessary, here is a (mainly) pictorial (via our new camera) record of the last three months - cattle seem to feature disproportionally!
Locals sheltering from the (rare) heat this summer
OK so maybe not as impressive as some of the displays at July's R.I.A.T., but this was from the comfort of the garden of The Black Horse at Amberley
Had to wait for passing traffic before backing out of the drive...
Early August saw us back at The Meudon Hotel, this time for Mark & Sally's wedding. The weather was exceptionally kind, as it had been wet & windy the day before, and not much better in the morning, but the afternoon was warm & sunny, and a better location than the spectacular Meudon Gardens would be hard to beat. It was also great to catch up with friends in the Falmouth Shout.
Falmouth Bay
Gunneras in the Meudon Gardens
Nearer to home (for now) - Cherrington Lake
Back at The Black Horse - overlooking the vines...
Curious...
Although sadly we didn't fit in a visit to the Ionian this autumn, a little bit of Greece did visit the Cotswolds...
Sandfield Swing Bridge on the Gloucester & Sharpness canal - a bit different from when we regularly negotiated the Lefkas Swing Bridge
Inspiration?
Like many people we had a glut of green tomatoes this autumn...
...they didn't go to waste - now self-sufficient in chutney...
In September we were in Southampton for the Boat Show - me 'researching' and Ann working hard on the CA stand - you can see just how hard here...
Early October saw us visiting The Cotswolds Distillery Whisky Harvest Festival and the official launch of their first ever single malt - and to collect my bottle Ann bought for my 50th birthday two years ago.
Geddit? The Whisky Chasers, A.K.A. Wired, on stage - really good, listen & watch here
The farmer who grew the grain - he told us all about it, and this beast (the tractor...). Think your 185 sixties are expensive? Try £10,000 for a set of boots for this big boy - oh and the £70,000 to buy it in the first place - Slangevar!
A climb to Broadway Tower to counter the excesses of the previous day - I'd forgotten just how steep and long the climb is...
Last weekend found us back in Cornwall, part business, part pleasure. On Saturday we walked from Tehidy Woods out to the coast and on to Portreath:
Above Portreath
Even higher above Portreath
Lapland? Nope, Cornwallland...
Rudolph the, um...
Just kidding...
This and all the above wildlife at Feadon Farm
Finally, last Sunday we had breakfast at Castaways in Mylor. We had in fact been sitting on these very benches the previous afternoon in glorious sunshine enjoying a wee libation, all in the name of research - Proper Job!
